The word Tinchuley stands for three chullas (chulla means oven). It is a relatively new tourist destination of the region. Tinchuley is located close to the famous tourist destination of Darjeeling.
Even a few years back Tinchuley was a remote hamlet. The inhabitants of this quite settlement took an initiative for establishing their locality as a model village. With the help of organizations such as the WWF, the village soon developed eco-tourism resorts. The villagers also showed keen interest in modern farming and with the help of WWF they developed floriculture, vermiculture, organic projects.
Attractions:
Tinchuley Sunrise Point: This place is known for the exotic view of sunrise. From this point one can see the Teesta valley, Kalimpong, Eastern and western Sikkim, Latpanchar and the snow capped peaks of the Himalayas.
Tinchuley Monastery: The monastery is highly revered by the locals.
